Police discover body in Hilo park with ‘suspicious injuries’
The Hawaii Police Department is investigating the death of an unidentified man whose body was found on Kuawa Street in Hilo.

At about 7:06 a.m. Monday, officers responded to Kuawa Park for a report of an unresponsive man near the fence at the park. Officers found lying on ground near the fence line on the north shoulder of Kuawa Street fronting the park with what police called “suspicious injuries.”
Detectives from the East Hawaii Criminal Investigation Section and evidence specialists responded to the scene. The name of the deceased is being withheld pending positive identification and notifying any next of kin.

An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday to determine the exact cause of death.
