A 54-year-old Puna woman accused of stabbing her estranged husband multiple times said she was aiming for his jugular but missed, according to court documents filed by police.

Documents state the two teenage daughters of Jill and Christopher Dunston told an interviewer at the Children’s Justice Center that Jill Dunston issued the statement after allegedly stabbing 56-year-old Christopher Dunston in a darkened bathroom in the Ainaloa Estates home on the evening of Sept. 30.

The older of the two daughters, who’s 17, reportedly told the interviewer that her mother called her father a “cheating (expletive),” and that he deserved to die.

Jill Dunston is charged with attempted second-degree murder, second-degree assault, and domestic abuse in the presence of a minor for the incident, which left Christopher Dunston with four stab wounds on his rear left shoulder.
