According to police, at 1 p.m. June 3, Kona officers responded to an reported disturbance near the intersection of Alii Drive and Hualalai Road involving a white Lexus SUV driven by Paul Tresnak.
Witnesses reportedly told police that Tresnak, after driving into the construction zone, was told to stop and turn around. He instead allegedly accelerated the SUV toward a construction worker, who jumped onto the hood of the vehicle to avoid being run over.
Police say the car traveled another 40 feet before the victim was able to safely dismount from the hood.

His bail was set at $7,100.
