Hilo Benioff Medical Center held a grand opening celebration Wednesday for a new building at East Hawaii Health Clinics.
Medical Office Building 3 is the new home of urgent care, neurology, general surgery, gynecologic surgery, plastic surgery and vascular surgery.
The two-story building is 20,000 square feet and is located at 1285 Waianuenue Ave. in Hilo.
In attendance were elected officials, various leaders from Hawaii Health Systems Corp., East Hawaii Regional Board members, and leadership from HBMC and East Hawaii Health Clinics.
Providers and staff who deliver essential and lifesaving care in Medical Office Building 3 were recognized.

“I am pleased to have this additional facility that will serve our community with providing their needed healthcare needs,” said state Sen. Lorraine Inouye. “I also thank my colleagues at the Senate for their continuous support in providing the funding to complete this project.”
“This new urgent care and specialty care facility is the result of collaboration and determination by the many people who care deeply about sustaining our healthcare community and the patients, our residents, they serve,” state Rep. Matthias Kusch said.
“From top administrators and board members to journeymen construction workers, all were a part of the mosaic that made this facility a reality for the doctors, nurses and staff who will fill this building with hope.”
Groundbreaking for this project was held in March 2024.
The general contractor is Isemoto Contracting, and the architecture firm is Fleming and Associates.
