Kyle Tucker, Dalton Rushing and Mookie Betts all clouted homers in a nine-run sixth inning Saturday night as the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers routed the San Diego Padres 15-3.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto (8-5) got the win, allowing five hits and two runs over six innings while walking two and striking out four. The top of the sixth enabled him and Los Angeles to cruise through the game’s remainder.

A San Diego mistake ignited the fuse as second baseman Will Wagner booted a one-out grounder off Max Muncy’s bat that allowed Freddie Freeman to score from second. Tommy Edman tripled home Muncy for a 3-1 lead.

Tucker followed by jacking his seventh homer of the season into the seats in right, followed by Rushing’s ninth homer to right-center. Bulk reliever Randy Vasquez left after yielding a walk to Alex Freeland and a single to Shohei Ohtani.

Ron Marinaccio couldn’t slow the Dodgers down, either, allowing a run on Freeman’s grounder to second and then allowing a three-run blast off Betts’ bat. It was his 11th homer of the year and his third in as many games.

Vasquez (6-6) gave up eight hits and seven runs, five of them earned, in 3 1/3 innings with a walk and a strikeout. Opener Kyle Hart lasted two innings, permitting a run on two hits.

Los Angeles initiated scoring in the second when Muncy tripled past a diving Fernando Tatis Jr. in right and rode home on Edman’s double. Yamamoto made the lead stick until the fifth, when Gavin Sheets blasted a first-pitch fastball an estimated 414 feet to center for his 13th homer.

Sheets tacked on an RBI single in the sixth and Tatis knocked in a run with a seventh-inning single. In the eighth, the Dodgers tallied four more runs on Muncy’s bases-loaded infield hit, Edman’s groundout and a two-run single by Tucker.

Ryan Ward’s two-out RBI single off backup catcher Rodolfo Duran capped Los Angeles’ scoring in the ninth.

Tucker and Freeman each collected three of the Dodgers’ 17 hits, with Tucker knocking in four runs.

Guardians build lead, hang on to down Mariners

Kahlil Watson had an RBI double in the fourth inning and fellow rookie Cooper Ingle followed with his first major league hit, a two-run single, as the Cleveland Guardians beat the visiting Seattle Mariners 4-3 on Saturday night.

Slade Cecconi (4-6) earned his first home victory of the season, striking out four over six-plus scoreless innings while scattering three hits and a pair of walks.

It was Cleveland’s fourth win in its last 11 games since All-Star Jose Ramirez broke his left wrist.

Cade Smith tossed the ninth, giving up a single to Julio Rodriguez and hitting Randy Arozarena with a pitch, before picking up his 25th save.

Arozarena belted a three-run homer in the eighth off Shawn Armstrong to pull Seattle within 4-3, but Hunter Gaddis entered and ended the inning without further damage.

Neither team had a baserunner advance past second until the fourth, when Cleveland went up 3-0 on Watson’s double that scored Travis Bazzana and Ingle’s single to right field.

Ingle went 0-for-2 in his debut Friday.

After Brayan Rocchio doubled in Bazzana in the fifth to push the Guardians’ lead out to 4-0, American League West Division leader Seattle stormed back with three runs in the eighth on Arozarena’s 427-foot homer to straight-away center.

Mariners starter Logan Gilbert (6-5) worked seven innings, giving up four runs on seven hits.

The right-hander struck out seven without a walk in his first loss since May 16 against the San Diego Padres.

Gilbert entered the day with the lowest road ERA in the majors at 1.04.

He was scheduled for an abbreviated start with Emerson Hancock following in bulk relief, but
Mariners manager Dan Wilson changed plans earlier in the day.

Hancock will now start today.

Jo Adell’s 2-run
triple helps Angels top Athletics

Jo Adell hit a two-run triple and Denzer Guzman delivered a tiebreaking single to help the Los Angeles Angels record a 5-2 victory over the Athletics on Saturday night at Anaheim, Calif.

Oswald Peraza and Logan O’Hoppe also had RBI singles as the Angels won for the fifth time in seven games. Adell, Guzman and Jorge Soler had two hits apiece for Los Angeles.

Jonah Heim homered for the Athletics, who fell for the fifth time in seven outings.

The Athletics played without shortstop Jacob Wilson (shoulder) for the third straight game and left fielder Tyler Soderstrom (left hip tightness) left after 2 1/2 innings on Saturday.

Kirby Yates set the side down in order in the ninth for the Angels for his second save this season and 100th of his career.

Josh Lowe singled off Geoff Hartlieb (1-1) with one out in the seventh and then stole second. He moved to third on Zach Neto’s groundout before Guzman hit a hard grounder that got under the glove of Athletics third baseman Max Muncy for a go-ahead single.

The A’s loaded the bases in the eighth off Sam Bachman on a one-out single by Shea Langeliers and walks to Lawrence Butler and Heim. Bachman recovered by striking out pinch hitter Carlos Cortes and getting Muncy on a liner to center.

In the bottom of the inning, Soler reached on an infield single and Adell was hit by a pitch from Matt Krook with one out. Peraza followed with a single to center to give the Angels a 4-2 lead before Mason Barnett entered and allowed a run-scoring single to center to O’Hoppe.

Starter Reid Detmers struck out eight A’s in 5 2/3 innings and gave up two runs, four hits and three walks. Ryan Zeferjahn (4-3) struck out two in the seventh for the Angels.

Heim celebrated his 31st birthday by slamming a first-pitch fastball 445 feet over the fence in center with one out in the second.

Devers homers twice as Giants
toss 1-hit shutout vs. Braves

Logan Webb continued his brilliant pitching in the month of June, Rafael Devers launched two home runs and the San Francisco Giants evened the score with the visiting Atlanta Braves in their three-game series with a 5-0 victory Saturday night.

Coming off a 3-1 loss in the series opener Friday, the Giants limited the Braves to one hit and wasted little time grabbing a lead they’d never relinquish when Devers led off the second inning with a solo shot off Atlanta starter Bryce Elder (5-6).

The Giants added a second run in the inning on a sacrifice fly by Drew Gilbert, then gave Webb a cushion with a three-run third. All three runs were courtesy of Devers’ second homer of the night, this one down the right-field line and over the imposing wall at Oracle Park.

Webb (5-5) coasted from there, limiting the Braves to one hit in seven innings. He walked two and struck out six.

Atlanta’s lone hit off Webb came when former teammate Mauricio Dubon doubled with one out in the second. A Mike Yastrzemski two-out walk gave Webb his only real jam of the night, but he struck out Ha-Seong Kim to end the inning in what then was a scoreless game.

Webb went on to retire the side in order in the third through seventh innings before calling it a night, having thrown 92 pitches.

The seven shutout innings lowered his June ERA to 0.71.

Ryan Walker and Sam Hentges threw a hitless inning apiece to complete San Francisco’s sixth shutout of the season.
