{"id":482,"date":"2026-06-08T11:35:35","date_gmt":"2026-06-08T11:35:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/movingtohawaiiguide.com\/?p=482"},"modified":"2026-06-08T11:35:35","modified_gmt":"2026-06-08T11:35:35","slug":"mirra-andreeva-claims-first-grand-slam-title-at-french-open","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/movingtohawaiiguide.com\/?p=482","title":{"rendered":"Mirra Andreeva claims first Grand Slam title at French Open"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div>\n<p>Russian teenager Mirra Andreeva claimed her first Grand Slam trophy with a 6-3, 6-2 victory at the French Open on Saturday, ending the remarkable Cinderella run of Polish qualifier Maja Chwalinska.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/movingtohawaiiguide.com\/?p=480\">Kevin McGonigle homers, hits walk-off single as Tigers edge Mariners<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Andreeva, at 19 years and 38 days old, is the youngest woman to win the French Open title since Monica Seles in 1992.<\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Seeded eighth, Andreeva claimed her sixth WTA Tour singles title in one hour and 22 minutes and became the first Russian to prevail on the clay courts at Roland Garros since Maria Sharapova in 2014.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve been watching Roland Garros on TV since I was very, very young,\u201d Andreeva said during the trophy presentation. \u201cIt\u2019s also a big dream of mine to win this tournament, and I honestly cannot believe that I\u2019m holding this trophy right now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Andreeva will elevate to No. 6 in the WTA singles rankings following Saturday\u2019s victory.<\/p>\n<p>Trailing 3-2, Andreeva won four straight games to seize the first set. Believing that I can do this, fighting so many demons inside of me.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOnly I know how tough it was for me and how nervous I was through these two weeks.
