Gage Jump posted a career-high 11 strikeouts while Tyler Soderstrom and Henry Bolte homered as the visiting Athletics snapped a nine-game losing streak with a 7-3 win over the Boston Red Sox on Saturday.

Jump (5-7) gave up two runs and six hits over six innings for the Athletics, who won for only the second time in 14 games. Jonah Heim and Donovan Walton had two RBIs each while Jacob Wilson contributed two hits and two runs.

Andruw Monasterio drove in two runs for the Red Sox, who had their nine-game winning streak halted. It was just their fourth loss in 31 games.

Red Sox starter Jake Bennett (7-5) gave up four runs and five hits over 5 1/3 innings with three walks and five strikeouts.

Caleb Durbin singled in a run in the ninth for the Red Sox, who loaded the bases with two out against Hogan Harris to bring the tying run to the plate. But Harris induced Eli White to line out to center and picked up his 10th save.

The Athletics took a 3-2 lead in the fifth on Heim’s two-run single off the Green Monster in left field. Walton extended the lead to 5-2 in the sixth when he came off the bench to deliver a two-run ground-rule double.

The Red Sox had runners on first and second with one out in the bottom of the sixth, but Jump fanned Jarren Duran and Connor Wong.

Soderstrom’s solo homer in the seventh made it 6-2. His 19th home run of the season came on a drive into the right-field stands, estimated at 413 feet, off reliever Raymond Burgos.

Bolte homered to center leading off the ninth, also off Burgos, for his fifth homer of the year.

Boston took a 2-0 lead in the first on Monasterio’s two-out, two-run single. It stretched his hitting streak to 10 games and on-base stretch to 20 games. The Red Sox stole three bases in the inning, two by Jahmai Jones and one by Durbin.

The Athletics got on the board to make it 2-1 in the fourth on Brian Serven’s soft infield RBI single in front of the plate with two out. The tapper scored Wilson — who led off the inning with a double — from third.

The Red Sox outhit the Athletics 10-8. Jones went 3-for-5 with two runs scored while Nick Sogard went 3-for-4.

Sandy Alcantara sets club innings record as Marlins blank Angels

Sandy Alcantara broke the Marlins career record for innings pitched, leading host Miami to a 7-0 win over the Los Angeles Angels on Saturday.

Miami broke its four-game losing streak as Alcantara (13-6) pitched seven scoreless innings, allowing just three hits and one walk while striking out eight.

The 30-year-old Dominican Republic native secured the record when he struck out Josh Lowe for the second out in the third, which moved him to 1,226 1/3 innings to break Ricky Nolasco’s mark. Alcantara, who was traded to Miami before the 2018 season, already ranks No. 1 in Marlins history with 1,049 career strikeouts.

Two Marlins players who had been slumping over the past month — shortstop Otto Lopez and second baseman Xavier Edwards — led the offense. Lopez went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and one walk. Edwards went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs.

Angels rookie starter Walbert Urena (7-8) lasted just 2 1/3 innings — the shortest outing of his young career. He allowed four runs on four hits and three walks.

Urena nearly had an early lead to work with, but the Angels came up empty after loading the bases with two outs in the third. Nolan Schanuel smashed a 357-foot drive to center field, but Jakob Marsee ranged to his left and caught the ball on the run in the gap to save multiple runs.

It was a different story in the bottom of the inning, when Miami loaded the bases and followed through with two big hits. With one out, Edwards stroked a two-run double and, after Kyle Stowers drew a walk, Lopez drove in a pair with a single to give Miami a 4-0 lead.

Miami extended its lead to 7-0 in the fifth. Marsee started the rally with a leadoff triple and Edwards followed with an RBI single. The Marlins added Griffin Conine’s run-scoring single and Heriberto Hernandez’s RBI double.

Alcantara nearly gave up a run in the seventh when Moises Ballesteros drove a one-out fastball 392 feet. However, Marsee made the catch on the warning track just in front of the center field wall. One batter later, Alcantara’s day was done after 108 pitches, one short of his season high.
