On the first possession of the third quarter, Chambliss completed a 49-yard pass to Alexander, setting up Chambliss’ 8-yard touchdown run. Chambliss’ two-point conversion pass to Horatio Fields pulled the Rebels within 17-14.

On the fourth play of the ensuing possession, Clark ran 45 yards for a touchdown that gave the Gators a 10-point lead.

Chambliss responded with a 10-yard touchdown run that cut the lead to 24-21. London Montgomery returned the ensuing kickoff 74 yards, and three plays later, Philo sneaked 1 yard for a touchdown and a 31-21 lead at the end of the third quarter.

Chambliss’ fumble, recovered by Myles Graham for Florida at its 43, led to Wilson’s 6-yard touchdown run. Chambliss then teamed with Alexander on a 2-yard touchdown pass that cut the lead to 38-28. Philo threw a 5-yard touchdown pass to Amir Jackson, and Baugh ran 2 yards for a touchdown to complete the scoring.

No. 17 Iowa stuns No. 18 Michigan
on game’s final play

Iowa quarterback Hank Brown’s 16-yard touchdown pass to Reece Vander Zee as time expired lifted No. 17 Iowa to a dramatic 20-19 comeback win over No. 18 Michigan on Saturday night in Ann Arbor, Mich.

Vander Zee, who also caught a touchdown pass earlier in the game, caught the well-placed back shoulder throw and dragged his right foot just before falling out of bounds.

The Hawkeyes (4-0, 1-0 Big Ten) snapped a four-game losing streak against the Wolverines (3-1, 0-1 Big Ten) and won for the first time at Michigan since 2010. Iowa beat a ranked Big Ten opponent for the first time since 2021, spanning a nine-game losing streak against such teams.

Michigan had won an FBS-best 13 of its prior 14 one-score games since 2023, including its controversial win over Western Michigan in Week 1.

The Hawkeyes’ winning drive covered 11 plays and 91 yards after forcing a punt using its timeouts and regained possession at its own 9 with 1:48 left. A personal foul call after an incomplete pass that would have put Iowa in a third-and-12 situation from its own 40 proved costly for Michigan.

Later on the drive, Iowa’s Addison Ostrenga tipped a pass down the middle from Hank Brown up in the air and caught it to give the Hawkeyes a first down at Michigan’s 16 and set up the winning score.

Brown completed 21 of 35 passes for 227 yards and two touchdown passes. Vander Zee caught five passes for 66 yards.

Iowa prevailed despite Michigan’s defense holding it to 77 total yards in the first half and only 30 yards rushing. The Hawkeyes had only 91 yards until they put together a go-ahead, seven-play, 75-yard drive capped when Hank Brown hit Reece Vander Zee over the middle for a 16-yard touchdown to take a 14-13 lead with 14:02 left in the fourth.

Bryce Underwood led Michigan, completing 17 of 28 passes for 276 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Underwood threw both touchdowns to JJ Buchanan, who finished with 130 yards on five catches. On their second touchdown connection,

Underwood rolled to his right and found Buchanan as he broke loose behind Iowa’s secondary for the 49-yard score with 11:59 left. Michigan’s lead remained 19-14 after it missed the two-point try on an errant pass by Underwood. Andrew Marsh also caught seven passes for 106 yards for Michigan.

Georgia forces
4 turnovers in
rout of Oklahoma

ATHENS — No. 2 Georgia forced four turnovers and Chauncey Bowens rushed for two touchdowns en route to a 41-13 victory over visiting Oklahoma on Saturday in a Southeastern Conference matchup.

Gunner Stockton threw for 171 yards and a score, and Dwight Phillips Jr. had 84 rushing yards and a touchdown for Georgia (4-0, 2-0 SEC), which won its second straight game by 28 points. Talyn Taylor caught four passes for 110 yards and a touchdown for the Bulldogs.

John Mateer completed 25 of 34 passes for 231 yards and two touchdowns but threw an interception and lost two fumbles for Oklahoma (2-2, 0-1 SEC) in its first-ever trip to Athens.

Georgia struck first with 3:16 left in the opening quarter, as Bowens capped an 11-play, 79-yard drive with a 2-yard rushing touchdown — his fourth in the last two games.

After an Oklahoma three-and-out, the Bulldogs tacked on with Stockton’s 35-yard touchdown pass to Taylor.

The Sooners advanced to Georgia’s 2-yard line on their next drive, but Mateer fumbled on third-and-goal, resulting in Chris Cole’s 85-yard scoop-and-score to extend the margin to 21 with 8:58 remaining in the first half.

Oklahoma’s nightmarish first half continued from there. KJ Bolden picked off Mateer on the next drive. After forcing a Georgia punt, Mateer turned the ball over again, this time fumbling on a fourth-down scramble.

Cole then returned his second fumble recovery to the Sooners’ 11-yard line. Two plays later, Bowens scored on a 6-yard run, giving the Bulldogs a 28-0 halftime lead.

Stockton was picked off by Omarion Robinson on Georgia’s first drive of the second half, leading to Mateer’s 17-yard touchdown pass to Rocky Beers. Oklahoma’s two-point conversion attempt was unsuccessful, leaving the margin at 22.

Beers lost a fumble on the next Sooners’ drive and Georgia added on with Peyton Woodring’s 45-yard field goal.

After Bowens lost a fumble on Georgia’s next possession, Oklahoma’s Tate Sandell missed a 54-yard field goal attempt.

The onslaught continued into the fourth quarter, when Phillips rushed for a 54-yard touchdown — the third of his career — to give Georgia a 38-6 lead with 12:33 left.

Woodring made a 49-yarder to make it 41-6.

Mateer hit Manny Choice for a 14-yard touchdown with 3:23 remaining.

No. 15 Utah holds off Iowa State

Wayshawn Parker ran for a career-high 174 yards and two touchdowns to lead No. 15 Utah to a 31-17 victory over Iowa State on Saturday in Ames, Iowa

Parker also had 65 yards receiving and added another touchdown on five catches to lead the Utes in the passing game. He averaged 9.7 yards per carry while putting together his sixth career 100-yard game. In Utah’s first three games, Parker totaled 154 yards and three scores on the ground.

Devon Dampier threw for 206 yards and two touchdowns while completing 67% (18-of-27) of his passes. Utah (4-0, 1-0 Big 12) tallied 411 total yards while averaging 6.9 yards per play.

Jaylen Raynor threw for 205 yards and a touchdown and also ran for a score to lead Iowa State. Raynor struggled with consistency, completing just 53% of his passes (21-of-40) and throwing two interceptions.

The Cyclones (2-2, 0-1) trailed 24-3 at halftime before rallying to make it a one-score game in the fourth quarter. Raynor connected with Dominic Overby on a 22-yard pass to cut Utah’s lead to 24-17 with 10:48 left.

Parker slammed the door on the comeback by taking a short pass in for a 13-yard touchdown with 2:58 remaining. Jackson Bennee intercepted Raynor one play later.

Parker signaled how dominant Utah would be on offense in the first half when he raced 54 yards for a touchdown on the Utes’ first play from scrimmage.

Utah scored on four of its first five drives to take a 24-3 halftime lead. The Utes averaged 8.5 yards per play in the first half and went 2-of-2 in the red zone.

Parker was the catalyst for making everything run smoothly.

He piled up 144 all-purpose yards in the first half alone — five more than Iowa State totaled as a team.

His successful fourth-down run set up Utah’s second touchdown — a 24-yard catch by Braden Pegan — a play later.

Parker scored the Utes’ third touchdown himself, taking an option pitch in from a yard out after catching passes of 16 yards and 22 yards to get Utah down near the goal line.

The Cyclones did not get their first touchdown until Raynor scored on an 8-yard bootleg run midway through the third quarter to cut Utah’s lead to 24-10.

Iowa State covered 82 yards in 12 plays while taking nearly seven minutes off the clock.
