Just before 1 p.m. Friday, Ka‘u patrol officers responded to a shopping center in the 96-3100 block of Pikake Street after receiving a report of a man pointing a gun at someone.

Upon arrival, officers contacted a 25-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman, who alleged the suspect, later identified Jerry “Mana” Ke, had pointed a pellet gun directly at them in separate instances.

The man reported Ke pointed the gun directly at his head, police said.

During the incident, Ke physically assaulted the female victim, as well as a bystander who tried to intervene. When a woman family member of Ke’s arrived on scene, she was also assaulted by Ke, according to police.
