Kamehameha-Hawaii girls volleyball played its first home match of the season Wednesday night in Kea‘au, sweeping the visiting Kealakehe Waveriders 25-7, 25-11 and 25-16.

The Warriors were spearheaded by sophomore Sienna Frederick, who hit .778% to go along with seven kills. Fellow classmate Clara Chinen added three kills of her own.

KSH also took on Kea‘au late Thursday night on the road. See Saturday’s paper to read the results.

Wednesday’s match was Kealakehe’s first of the season. The Waveriders will try to redeem themselves at Hilo High on Saturday against the Vikings.

Hilo also opened its season Wednesday, beating Konawaena in four sets at home — 25-11, 25-14, 24-26, 29-27. The Wildcats fought back hard to force a decisive fifth set, but the Vikings were able to close.

Kona fell to 0-1 to start the year. The Wildcats will return to the east side Saturday to take on the Cougars at Kea‘au High.

Up in Waimea, Hawaii Prep stayed perfect to begin 2026, sweeping Kanu on Thursday inside Castle Gymnasium — 25-18, 25-14, 25-10. Ka Makani elevated to 3-0, and hasn’t lost a set this season.

HPA will next play Kohala this evening in Kapa‘au, while Kanu (1-1) will try to get back in the win column against Makua Lani on Monday at home.
