Kyle Tucker went 3-for-3 with a grand slam and a season-high five RBIs, leading the Los Angeles Dodgers to their eighth straight win, a 6-2 victory over the host Miami Marlins on Friday.

Tucker finished a double shy of the cycle.

Los Angeles starter Blake Snell (4-1) struck out eight in 5 2/3 innings. He allowed one run on four hits and two walks, and he was removed after his pitch count reached 101.

The Dodgers, who lead the National League West with a 90-57 record, played without injured power hitters Shohei Ohtani (right biceps) and Freddie Freeman (right knee).

Miami (72-76) lost for the seventh time in eight games.

Ryan Gusto (1-5) took a tough-luck defeat after producing a quality start. He lasted six innings and held the Dodgers to two runs on five hits and three walks. He fanned three.

Miami’s offense was led by Otto Lopez, who went 4-for-5. Javier Sanoja tripled, singled and scored twice.

Los Angeles opened the scoring in the third inning. Tommy Edman drew a leadoff walk, advanced on Max Muncy’s single and scored on Tucker’s sacrifice fly.

The Dodgers made it 2-0 in the sixth as Tucker tripled off the wall in right with one out and scored on Will Smith’s bloop single to right.

Miami got on the board in the sixth. Sanoja singled off Snell, stole second and scored on Agustin Ramirez’s double off reliever Evan Phillips. Ramirez fouled off six pitches before lining a two-bagger to the gap in right-center.

With two outs and no one on in the seventh, Edman drew a walk from Victor Vodnik. Muncy singled and Mookie Betts walked to load the bases. Miami brought in reliever Cade Gibson, whose third pitch was an 80 mph sweeper that Tucker pulled over the right field fence for his sixth career grand slam.

Tucker hadn’t hit a grand slam since 2023.

Miami cut its deficit to 6-2 in the eighth when Sanoja tripled and scored on Owen Caissie’s sacrifice fly.

vs. Mariners with walk-off win in 10

Donovan Walton led off the bottom of the 10th inning with a two-run, walk-off homer to right as the Athletics recorded a dramatic 6-5 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Friday night at West Sacramento, Calif.

Pinch runner Michael Stefanic was the automatic runner on second to start the inning against Seattle right-hander Eduard Bazardo (3-4). The left-handed-hitting Walton jumped all over a 1-1 sweeper for his third hit of the night to give the Athletics their seventh victory in the last nine games.

Lawrence Butler had three hits, including a two-run homer, for the Athletics (60-88). Jeff McNeil had two hits, two runs and an RBI as the A’s defeated Seattle for the fourth time in five meetings this month.

Julio Rodriguez hit a run-scoring ground single with two outs in the top of the 10th to give Seattle a 5-4 lead prior to Walton’s winning blast.

Lazaro Montes hit a pinch-hit, two-run blast as Seattle (69-79) endured a painful loss.

Rodriguez, J.P. Crawford, Dominic Canzone and Josh Naylor each had two hits for the Mariners, who trail the third-place Cleveland Guardians by six games for the final American League wild-card spot. Seattle is six games behind the first-place Houston Astros and three games behind the Texas Rangers in the AL West.

Randy Arozarena was the automatic runner on second to start the Seattle 10th before Chris Roycroft (2-0) retired the first two hitters. Rodriguez then hit a grounder that eluded the dives of shortstop Alika Williams and second baseman Walton as Arozarena scored from third with the go-ahead run.

Naylor followed with a single and a stolen base to put runners on second and third, but Seattle’s bid to tack on more runs was thwarted when Denzel Clarke made a diving grab of Montes’ liner into the right-center gap.

The Mariners trailed by two runs in the sixth when Naylor reached on a one-out fielding error by A’s reliever Scott Blewett. Montes then batted for Taylor Ward and sent a 430-foot missile over the wall in right-center to tie the score at 4.

George Kirby of the Mariners allowed four runs and nine hits over six innings. He struck out five and walked two.

Jeffrey Springs of the A‘s gave up two runs and six hits over five innings. He walked two and fanned one.

Seattle pushed across a run in the first on two singles and Cal Raleigh’s fielder’s choice.

The Athletics tied the score in the bottom of the inning on McNeil’s RBI double. Three batters later, McNeil scored when Max Muncy reached on an infield hit.

The Mariners tied it in the second on Weston Wilson’s fielder’s choice.

McNeil led off the third with a single and Butler slammed a one-out blast to right to give the Athletics a 4-2 lead.

Brewers demolish Reds 20-0, wrap up postseason berth

Garrett Mitchell hit a grand slam, William Contreras homered and drove in six runs, and Dustin May tossed six innings of two-hit ball as the Milwaukee Brewers routed the visiting Cincinnati Reds 20-0 on Friday night to clinch their eighth postseason berth in nine seasons.

The Brewers fell short of the biggest shutout in modern major league history, a record they tied on Aug. 18 by trouncing the Seattle Mariners 22-0.

May (7-9), acquired at the trade deadline from the St. Louis Cardinals, allowed singles in the first and fourth innings, both to Sal Stewart. May struck out six and walked one in an 84-pitch outing to improve to 2-2 with Milwaukee.

Rookie Garrett Stallings pitched the final three innings for his first save.

Mitchell’s 10th homer of the year and first career grand slam capped an eight-run fifth that put the Brewers up 17-0. Brice Turang (3-for-3, four RBIs) and Jake Bauers homered during a six-run second when Milwaukee went in front 8-0.

Contreras belted a three-run homer in the eighth off catcher Jose Trevino, who pitched the final two innings for the Reds.

Milwaukee (92-56) pounded out a season-high 23 hits and won its fourth straight to maintain a 10-game lead in the National League Central over the Chicago Cubs (82-66), who won earlier Friday. The Brewers, bidding for their fourth consecutive division title, are 1 1/2 games ahead of the Los Angeles Dodgers for the best overall record in the majors.

The Brewers jumped on Andrew Abbott (6-11) for two runs in the first and six in the second, ending his outing after he allowed nine hits on 43 pitches. Cincinnati (69-78) has lost four straight.
