The Hawaii Fire Department reports a wildland fire in South Kohala and has issued a Wildfire Warning for Waikoloa Village, according to a 5:07 p.m. alert from the Civil Defense Agency.

A Wildfire Warning means residents there should be prepared to evacuate.

Due to the wildland fire, Waikoloa Road from Paniolo to Highway 190 is closed.

Open to local traffic only is Waikoloa Road from Paniolo to Queen Kaahumanu Highway.
